Information about the monastery
Franciscan monastery and church was founded in 1448 by the last earl of Opava and Glubczyce from the Premyslid family, Jan Pobožný. Temporary complex was built in 1753 - 1770, designed by Jan Inocenc Topper of Prudnik. The complex consists of the monastery building of a quadrangle shape with a heavenly court in its center and a baroque church of Sv. Jijlí and Bernard.
Sign Franciscan Order
Above the church portal, you can notice the relief emblem of the Franciscan Order: Christ´s and Sv. František´s of Assisi folded arms. The decoration of the temple remained in Baroque-Rococo style. The building surrounding the monastery (there used to be a grammar school) was built in 1752.
