Prudnik posiadał pierwsze umocnienia obronne prawdopodobnie już w XIV wieku. W średniowieczu do miasta prowadziły dwie bramy: górna zwana nyską oraz dolna, przy której w XV wieku, dla wzmocnienia obrony, wzniesiono kamienną wieżę - Wieżę Bramy Dolnej.

The Prudnik town used to have the first defending fortification probably in the 14th century. In the middle ages, the two gates were used to enter the town: the upper gate called “Niska” and the lower one. Beside the lower one, a stoned tower was built to support the defences of the town - The tower of lower gate.

In 2006, the tower was completely restored and today it presents a very precious monument of town architecture. The renovation got much attention not only with the citizens, but also with cultural heritage institutions. The restoration work was awarded even by the Polish Ministry of Culture as “Treated monument”.

The Silesia without borders Project - A new touristic destination has been chosen within the operational programme of a close crossbordering cooperation of the Czech Republic 2007 with Poland 2007 - 2013, which has been co-financed thank to the European Fund of regional development.
